Emma Parker

Bio

Emma McCullough is a Ph.D. candidate in musicology. Her dissertation research focuses on collaborations between male composers of Czech opera and their female librettists in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Emma received a Fulbright Scholarship to live and research in Prague, Czech Republic, for the 2012-2013 academic year. Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Emma received a B.Mus. in vocal performance with a minor in history from Ithaca College in 2009. Also an active teacher, she has taught Music 15 at UCSB as both a teaching assistant and teaching associate, and has taught private voice lessons at the Santa Barbara School of Music. As a performer, Emma has sung with ensembles including the Charles University Choir in Prague, the UCSB Chamber Choir, and the Ithaca College Choral Union in venues including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and Lincoln Center in New York. She has been featured as a soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria and in scenes from Mozart's Idomeneo, Purcell's The Faerie Queen, and Salieri's La grotto di Trofionio. When not writing her dissertation, Emma enjoys baking, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
